According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, American manufacturing

hit its post war peak in 1951, when it accounted for 27.9 % of the gross domestic

product. By 2010 that percentage was down to just 11.7%.

I'm all for buying American, but to buy American we need to make American.

In the latest issue of Dwell Magazine, was an article delivering 61

fabulous and functional American made items ranging from an Igloo cooler

to a motorcycle. Somewhere wedged in between the John Deere

Tractor and the Fire Extinguisher I discovered some great furniture pieces.

Below are barstools from Studio Dunn made from sustainably harvested

hardwood sourced from forests in the Midwest and on the East Coast. This small Rhode

Island company was founded just last year but I see longevity in their future.

This crib by Ducduc delivers the utmost in style when it comes to decorating

a nursery. Produced not far outside New York City, Ducduc designs

fantastic children's furniture including changers, chairs, desks and storage.

This gorgeous chair by Plexi-Craft designed by BNO is just one example

of what they can do. Plexi-Craft has been designing and fabricating custom

acrylic furniture in New York City of over 50 years.

Egg White Pancake Recipe

4 egg whites

1/4 cup rolled oats

1 tbsp ground flaxseed

1/2 cup fresh blueberries

1/3 banana

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp cinnamon

2 packets stevia

pinch of salt

Put everything in a blender and liquify (at least 1 minute).

Pour directly onto pan lightly sprayed with oil.

Makes 10-12 small pancakes (1 serving).

You can make this for breakfast or for snacking!
Double or triple the serving and freeze for convenience.

With the click of a remote, you can browse the Web, check out what your friends are doing on Facebook and Twitter, call them through Skype, watch YouTube videos, stream music via Pandora - all on your TV. The newest models come preinstalled with a host of Web-connected apps like Netflix, HuluPlus, Amazon, Yahoo, Vudu, CinemaNow, and Flickr, among others. They appear as icons on the screen just as they do on your smartphone.

You can still enjoy many of these same services on the big screen without a preloaded TV. The Roku Player is a compact box that links your TV and high-speed Internet service, giving you access to content from more than 150 sources. Some Blu-ray players and gaming systems like Xbox can do it, too.

Beware, not every streaming device offers the same features, and not every app is available on every TV model, so check first before you buy.

Great Indoor Plants

We have all done it. Brought home a beautiful potted plant
with expectation of adoring it for months to come, only to find that
weeks, maybe even days later, it has already started to die off.
Maybe you under watered, maybe you over watered, or it could be that
it didn't find enough sunlight. All of these very well may be the case
but, it may just be that you are picking the wrong plants.

I've devised a list of great indoor plants that need little attention
so you need not to worry about screwing them up!
