"Pay attention to your water bill, so you know what's normal. Even if you can't hear it, you might have a running toilet or a leaky faucet somewhere. If your bill is running high, call your plumber."

"A keypad with an 'all off' button at the front door not only saves energy,
it looks much better than four or five switches, right?"

"Steam is the absolute best disinfectant, and it works faster than most household cleaners. We use the Ladybug Steam Cleaner on everything from mattresses to floors to counters. It even gets rid of mold, bedbugs, and fleas in seconds flat."
DIANA HENLEY, Owner, Natural Care Cleaning Service, Houston, TX
"There's a lot of misinformation about marble being too porous and impractical. I still think it's the best kitchen counter material. Put a marble poultice on a water mark for 24 hours and it will be completely restored."

We have all done it. Brought home a beautiful potted plant
with expectation of adoring it for months to come, only to find that
weeks, maybe even days later, it has already started to die off.
Maybe you under watered, maybe you over watered, or it could be that
it didn't find enough sunlight. All of these very well may be the case
but, it may just be that you are picking the wrong plants.
I've devised a list of great indoor plants that need little attention
so you need not to worry about screwing them up!
- Ponytail Palm~ for those who forget to water their plants
- Moth Orchid, Novelty Stripes~ an easy-to-grow orchid
- Braided Ficus Tree~ easy care and adaptability
- Chamaedorea Palm~ if your looking for a taste of the tropics
- Chinese Evergreen~ low maintenance, low-light lover
- Tropical Combo Bonsai~ create a tropical garden in any small corner
- Angel Ivy Ring Topiary~ fast growing
In the next list are great plantsto help aid in purifying the air inside your home:
- Peace Lilly
- Spider Plant
- Bamboo Palm
- Snake Plant
- Rubber Plant
- Weeping Fig
- Boston Fern
- English Ivy
Select one of these hardy indoor plants that will coordinate well with your
home decor and you will be on your way to finding your green thumb! You
can be rest assured that most of these are hard to kill.

111 Navy Chair
Made from 111 recycled plastic Coke bottles, the
It took four years of research, design and materials testing
to create this chair, which is a plastic version of the iconic
by Emeco for the U.S. Navy in 1944, and today it's made of 80% recycled aluminum.

The 111 Navy Chair is available in six colors, and at $230.00, it's about
half the price of the aluminum one (1006 Navy Chair). This chair is suitable
for outdoor and commercial use, and it's made in the USA!

The production of this chair is expected to keep three million
plastic Coke bottles out of landfills each year. A good enough reason to plant
several of these chairs at your dining table today!

For those of you who need a little incentive to recycle...
RecycleBank launched April 5th in Los Angeles, paying cash to single-family homes with extra goods to dispose of. One of the advantages of the program is that it requires no extra bins or effort:
RecycleBank simply outfits your existing bins with a special ID tag. When the bins are weighed each time they are collected, the family accrues points which can be redeemed at local retail outlets (encouraging local commerce!).
RecycleBank has already had success with the program in over 1000 commercial locations. The company hopes to roll out the program to over 700,000 families in the Los Angeles, in the next year. Read all the details on the
RecycleBank website.

I think this may be the a best approach to a recycle program, that we have seen so far!
Keep up the great work
RecycleBank!
Hoping that San Diego will catch on soon...

We heard of General Motors’s cash for clunkers campaign a few months ago, but
Emeco is putting an interior design spin on this deal-busting concept. From November 25 through February 2010, the chair manufacturer will offer a 50 percent discount on any chair and stool in its online catalog to anyone sending in an old, clunker aluminum chair.
Emeco will collect the unwanted chairs and send them to its recycling plant in Baltimore, Maryland. The discarded aluminum will then be repurposed into future products for the Emeco line. The Pennsylvania-based company will accept any aluminum chair for recycling, and customers can exchange more than one chair, as well. All chairs and stools made by Emeco qualify for the discount.

Bleu Nature Driftwood Lamps

They're graceful in movement. They're soft from tide and salt. Pieces of driftwood conjure quiet and calm. And that’s a vibe that’s welcome in any home. The guys who will bring it there? French designers, Bleu Nature. Every year the team takes a field trip to the shores of Northern France to collect driftwood that they then bundle and stack into sublime lighting fixtures. The entire process is rather unfussy — they take some sticks and add a post, shade, and discerning eye. It’s a simple beauty. And that’s largely because the wood needs no further processing, as it is already naturally preserved in sea salt. These artistic collaborations between man and nature may have fallen far from their trees, but I'm sure they’ll have no trouble calling your living room home.
